An Intelligent Tutoring System for Cognitive Debiasing

As a component of a course I took on educational technology, I developed an adaptive tutoring system to teach the foundations of metacognitive theory and debiasing. Here is the technical paper, a video overview, and a link to the tutor itself.

 

Localizing a SCUBA Diver Using Active Sonar

As part of our class on artificial intelligence for robotics, my colleague, Nabin Sharma, and I implemented a way to localize SCUBA divers using active sonar and a particle filter. Here’s the paper we wrote, a video describing our approach, and the particle filter code that we wrote.

 

Finding Saturn’s Rings Using Edge Detection and Least Squares Error

I spent the summer of 2011 in El Paso, TX working with Drs. Olac Fuentes and Steve Roach developing algorithms that determine the position and orientation of NASA’s Cassini spacecraft given an image it had taken of Saturn. Here’s the poster summary of my project:

Do Global Positioning Systems Contribute to Traffic Jams?

During the winter of 2011, I received a scholarship to work with the New England Complex Systems Institute at MIT to simulate and research emergent behaviors in large-scale complex and chaotic systems. Here’s a paper I coauthored during that time.

 

Machine Learning and Data Mining

I spent nearly three years as an undergraduate in the University of Rhode Island’s Machine Learning and Data Mining research group under Dr. Lutz Hamel. During that time, we researched topics including artificial creativity, support vector machines, evolutionary computation, artificial neural networks, self-organizing maps, and logic language semantics.
